| Description | Across the bulk of the Northern Gulf region, very few systematic biodiversity studies have been undertaken. Without further comprehensive studies in each of the bioregions and sub-regions, action on priority species and other species and habitats is being attempted in the absence of sufficient knowledge of their distribution and abundance. This could result in misallocation of resources and failure to achieve desired outcomes. This terrestrial biodiversity survey program provides a foundation to take action to protect threatened native species and communities and tackle weeds and pests that threaten biodiversity. Following Cyclone Yasi, Northern Gulf Resource Management Group, NQ Dry Tropics and Terrrain NRM commissioned a report to assess the fire hazard resulting from cyclone damage. |
