Our Partners
The NGRMG is primarily supported though Caring for our Country program, an Australian Government funded program driven by a single Plan developed by each regional community thereby reflecting the community’s aspirations and supported by Government. The Plan also requires the best science and information available and support from the State Government to achieve more strategic outcomes.
The National Landcare Program also provides support to the NGRMG. An Australian Government initiative, it seeks to support more profitable, competitive and sustainable primary industry practices.
Philanthropic organisations also support the NGRMG, principally through donations to projects and programs administered by the Group. The Ghost Nets (marine debris) program in the Gulf of Carpentaria is a popular project receiving much support for an extremely important national and international problem.
Research and Development organisations have an important collaborative role with the NGRMG. Partnerships with organisations such as the CSIRO, Australian Centre for Tropical Freshwater Research at James Cook University and the Cooperative Research Centre for Tropical Savannas Management have paved the way for important research projects in the region and providing invaluable knowledge to aid in the sustainable management of our resources.
The region’s community as a whole is the most important support the NGRMG receives. The Group is comprised solely of community members from all walks of life who contribute their valuable time and expertise. The NGRMG welcomes members from throughout the region who support the management and protection of our unique and special region.
To achieve true sustainable natural resource management, everyone needs to be involved including our neighbours. The NGRMG have a good working relationship with neighbouring regional bodies and States/Territories.
